Last week I was sitting on my couch bored and in the mood to sketch. I happened to be tweeting with actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum on Twitter at that moment and decided to sketch her Twitter background, which is an image of her. It was a little hard to sketch considering Twitter itself was plastered right down the middle of the tiled image.
When I finished the sketch, I uploaded it to my Twitter account, not thinking much of it. I had no idea it would be placed on Jenna & Channing’s photo website and featured on Channing’s website, channingtatumunwrapped. If I had known, I would have gone all out and not just done a little sketch, hahaha! Anyhoo, I’m very thankful people liked my sketch, especially enough to retweet and put on websites!
Model Jasmine Sanders’ featured two paintings I did (that were inspired by her fashion portraits) on her Twitter and Facebook page, even using one as her profile pic. Jasmine has really showed me her support and it’s humbly appreciated!
If it weren’t for Twitter, my artwork would’ve never been seen by Jenna, Jasmine and others who appreciate it. Who said Twitter was boring and pointless?
Oh, and for those who don’t know, my artist name is Onyx Avedon.

My No. 1 Pocket Kodak Camera
It was my birthday last Friday and I had a great birthday weekend spending time with those closest to me. I was very spoiled this year and among my presents was a No. 1 Pocket Kodak Camera from my Mom and Step-Dad.
It seems to be in great working condition so I purchased some film from ebay to see if it actually does work. I’m super excited to try this camera out and I’m completely obsessed with it right now. Even though I can’t do anything with it until the film comes in the mail, I’m constantly opening it up and checking everything out.
I really hope this camera still works because it would be pretty awesome to photograph people/places/things with a camera that is around 100 years old.

I usually have long, detailed dreams and keep them to myself (or tell them to my fiance and sister) but I thought I’d share this one. Don’t worry, it isn’t long.
In the dream I had before I woke up this morning, I was watching a tv show about strange famous places (I dont think this actually exists?). They’d take a place that is famous for an odd reason and give the story on it, along with information on what existed there before it became a famous place. The place they were showing was Marilyn Monroe’s house in LA, except it was two stories with an underground basement and was extremely elegant, like it was from a different era. The outside and inside of the house was white with gold details and was pretty big.
The show was telling the story of the house that used to be there before Marilyn’s and the owner of the lot. All of a sudden I was in the house and a part of the show (in a room that looked like a library/office/study) and was holding some kind of antique metal plate that’s used to imprint paper. It was rectangular and had the original owners likeness on it. The show host and a historian were there and the historian said the original owner of the lot was one of the first men to start using Confederate bills in the 1800′s. Before I placed the plate into it’s box, the historian said the man’s name but I can’t remember it. All I remember is that she used “Sir” before his actual name. Weird. Now I wonder who really owned that lot. Could you imagine if it were the same man in my dream? Spooky.

Ever since I saw Jay Z & Alicia Keys perform “Empire State of Mind” on the VMA’s, I’ve been obsessed with the song. It became my ringtone in no time =)
I’ve been waiting for the video and it’s finally here!! For a really long time I’ve been itching to get to New York and in August 2009 I finally went for a full week. It was so amazing and inspiring. I would love to live there. Yes, it was that great! Check out Empire State of Mind below:

On Saturday, June 27th, a memorial for Michael Jackson was set up outside BC Place Stadium, where Michael and his brothers performed 3 concerts in 1984. Being a massive Michael Jackson fan myself, I attended the memorial and took some pictures. Click here to check them out.
Edit: On Monday, June 29th, I was told that Michael Jackson’s Vancouver Memorial was removed from BC Place Stadium. I’m so disappointed in Vancouver.

Michael Jackson: 1958 - 2009
Although I have never been blessed to have met Michael Jackson in my life, he was a huge part of it. He is my earliest memory. Before I had a Barbie I had a Michael Jackson doll. He was the first entertainer to be introduced to me as a baby. The only entertainer that I have continued to love for my entire life. I’m in major shock over the sudden death of Michael Jackson. No matter what was said about him and no matter what he looked like, I remained a fan and always will.
He is my generations Elvis. The King of Pop. I’m incredibly devastated that he has passed away but, his legacy will live forever. I will remember him for his charity, his love for people, his dancing, his music and most of all, the incredible amounts of memories I have growing up being entertained by the most successful entertainer of all time.
To me, Michael Jackson was invincible. Untouchable. Today, I have learned that even icons aren’t immune to unexpected deaths. Life is short, but Michael has accomplished so much in his 50 years. Live in the present. Treat others with kindness and do what makes you happy. Everyday.
Just like there will never be another Elvis or another Marilyn Monroe, there will never be another Michael Jackson.
Here are videos of Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five performing at the 25th Motown Anniversary. My sister and I have been watching this performance since the 80′s and is a big part of our childhood. We still have the performace (originally recorded in 1983) on VHS.

I heard the tarps were down at the New Moon set of Bella Swan’s house so I went by again to get a better pic! I swear I was already in the area!

I happened to be in the area where “Bella Swan’s house” is located for the movie New Moon so I went by to check it out. It’s a Sunday, so production wasn’t happening but there was a security guy parked across the street from the house (you wouldn’t know he was security).
It was blocked off by black tarp (damn it!) but I was able to get a pic of the side of the house which wasn’t blocked.
This has nothing to do with my photography, obviously, but I love the Twilight saga and had to check it out
